On 27 May 2021, tragedy struck the informal settlement of Fisantekraal, when a devastating fire sparked by faulty electrical wiring—swept through homes, leaving 12 families displaced, without shelter, food or clothing. In response to a heartfelt public call for aid, Ithalomso Waste Management swiftly joined the relief efforts, demonstrating our deep commitment to community well-being beyond waste management.
Our team mobilized without hesitation gathering food parcels, preparing warm meals and coordinating the collection of clothing through our network of stakeholders. By 28 May 2021, we were on the ground in Fisantekraal, standing in solidarity with affected families and offering support where it was needed most.
This initiative speaks to our core values: compassion, responsibility and service. We believe that corporate citizenship means more than business, it means showing up when it matters.

To the families in Fisantekraal, you remain in our thoughts. And to everyone who helped us extend a hand of hope—thank you.
